Whether championing humanitarian causes through Femmes d’Europe or navigating her new career at the Ministry of Finance, Justine’s journey is one of dedication, compassion, and the desire to make a meaningful impact.

"I was born and raised in Brussels"

says Justine, reflecting on the city that shaped her identity.

"Brussels’ multiculturalism is its beating heart. Walking through its streets, you hear languages from all over the globe. Its role as a hub for international organisations means there’s always something exciting happening—a true melting pot of cultures and ideas."

Her academic journey led her to pursue two masters’ degrees, in Law and International Relations, which she describes as formative in broadening her perspectives. Professionally, she recently embarked on her first role at the Ministry of Finance, an experience she finds both challenging and exhilarating. On a personal note, she shares,

"I recently married Jacques, my wonderful husband, whom I met seven years ago at Sint-Jan Berchmans College."

Justine’s path to joining Femmes d’Europe was inspired by chance.

"I first heard about FdE through Christiane Nastri, a dedicated member I met at church. She shared inspiring stories of her involvement in various humanitarian projects. Her passion ignited a spark in me, and I felt drawn to learn more."

Charity work, however, is not new to her.

"My father’s association, Afri Kali, had a formative influence during my upbringing. I’ve always known I wanted to contribute meaningfully to a cause. FdE’s mission, particularly its focus on women and children, resonated deeply with me."

She hopes to expand the Association’s visibility in Brussels and Belgium and to contribute to meaningful projects.

"To me, this work is about creating a legacy of empowerment and change."

Travel is another defining passion in her life.

"I inherited a love for travelling from my parents. My husband and I enjoy immersing ourselves in different cultures, sampling new cuisines, and learning from diverse traditions. For us, travel isn’t just about visiting new places—it’s about broadening our perspectives and building meaningful connections."

When it comes to dining, her love for Asian cuisine stands out.

"Hinodeya, a Japanese restaurant in Ixelles, is my family’s favourite. Run by a Japanese couple, their dishes are crafted from scratch, offering an experience that’s both intimate and unforgettable."

Her reflections on life in Brussels as a woman are thoughtful.

"Life in Brussels as a woman in 2024 is, overall, empowering, but it’s essential to remain mindful of our global context. Many women around the world face far graver challenges. Here, we enjoy freedoms and opportunities, but with that privilege comes a responsibility to advocate for those who cannot do so themselves. Empowering women globally should remain a priority."

Since joining FdE’s Multinational Group, Justine has been inspired by the collective energy of the women involved.

"Seeing women collaborate, exchange ideas, and support one another is profoundly moving. I’d particularly like to commend Nora, our Group leader, for her unwavering dedication. It’s a testament to what women can achieve when united by a shared purpose."

Justine’s favourite quote encapsulates her ethos : Pleasant words are as a honeycomb, sweet to the soul, and health to the bones, from the Book of Proverbs.

"It’s a beautiful reminder of the power of kindness and positive communication,"

she says.

Her journey is a compelling blend of youthful ambition and heartfelt compassion. Justine Deneumoustier’s story is a hopeful vision of what can be achieved when community and purpose come together.
