Rénovation spéciale dans orphelinat filles

Kandy, Sri Lanka

Let me tell you about the project that the Multinational Group has supported this year in favour of the Good Shepherd Orphanage for girls in Kandy, Sri Lanka.

Rénovation spéciale dans orphelinat filles

The School banner looks like a simple T but the beautiful white Lily is at the heart of the Crest. The white Lily symbolizes renewed life, purity and the value of meaningful living. The green leaves add strength and dignity. The Latinate phrase ‘Fortiter et Suaviter’ engraved in the heart of every true Shepherdian is unspoken but self-evidently something rich and beautiful : ‘Strength and Sweetness‘ is human, spiritual and divine helping to broaden and deepen the meaning of life and enriching all human relationships.

Beside the Convent and the large girls’ school, the Sisters run an Orphanage for Girls. They live in the large premises, but the building is almost a century old and needed urgent renovation of the girls’ washing amenities and toilets. The premises were thus far from their pure, white Lily emblem.

Some desperate photos were passed around our monthly meeting ! Therefore, we voted unanimously for funding to renovate the premises under the supervision of our beloved Rev. Father Valence Mendis, Bishop of Kandy. We can call him a personal friend of Femmes d’Europe. He visited us in 2014 when Femmes d’Europe were still in the Beaulieu Offices. Then we supported the project to renovate the Boys’ Orphanage with a new dormitory and beds.

Thanks to Femmes d’ Europe, the emblem is SAFE !
